UPDATE: “Doc Fix” passes

June 24, 2010

The House just voted 417 to 1 to delay a 21% medicare pay cut to doctors until November 30th.  For more on this saga, listen to my feature tomorrow morning.

Just got word from Representative Langevin’s office- the house may vote TODAY on legislation that would delay a 21% cut in Medicare payments to doctors.

The Center for  Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has already started processing a backlog of around 50 million claims to reflect the pay cut.

Once Congress acts, CMS will have to pay thirty cents each to reprocess the claims at the corrected rate.

The Senate has already voted to delay cutting reimbursement rates until November, by which time they’ll probably delay the cut again.

If you have no idea what I’m talking about, check out this earlier post.
