Senator Jack Reed thinks Lyme disease is bad
Finally! A politician that has our back during tick season! Reed will be talking about how to avoid Lyme disease at Rhode Island Hospital this afternoon. He’ll be joined by infectious disease specialists and a professor from University of Rhode Island’s center for Vector-Borne Diseases.
Ticks are apparently a big issue for Reed- he secured funding for URI to develop a tick control and tick education program. He’s also the cosponsor of the Lyme and Tick Borne Disease Prevention, Education and Research Act, which aims to redesign how the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) report and count instances of Lyme disease. To be fair, Senator Sheldon Whitehouse is also a co-sponsor.
Now, if only they’d invited John McCauley the III to play…
