RI falling behind on renewing doc licenses
Update-The Department of Health (DOH) says it will take around a month to send the renewal cards out to Rhode Island doctors. The DOH had to order the cards and none of them have arrived yet.
Annemarie Beardsworth with DOH says all licenses have been renewed, even though doctors don’t have their cards yet.

There’s some grumbling at the Rhode Island Medical Society (RIMA) about the time it’s taking the Department of Health to process their new medical license cards.
All of those licenses expire tonight at midnight, but some physicians haven’t received their new cards in the mail. Doctors must send in their forms by June 1st every year to qualify for a renewal by July 1st.
Doctors can go here to look up the status of their license.
RIMA says all physicians should be renewed through June 12th, even if they don’t have a new card.
I have a call out to the health department to get a sense of how many cards will be late.
