United Health Care to administer insurance for state employees

June 30, 2010

If you work for the state, United Health Care will be administering your health care for the next three years.  Governor Carcieri just renewed the state’s contract with United, which will last until June 30th, 2013.

Carcieri expects changes in the contract will save RI $3.4 million dollars.  The Governor says the state has  spent  an average of $8 million dollars less every year since it switched its contract in 2004 from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Rhode Island.
