Chiropractor suspended for allegedly kissing patient, massaging “bottom”

September 2, 2011

Wasn’t it just last week that a doctor had his license suspended for kissing a patient? This time, the RI Department of Health is disciplining chiropractor Pedro DeAlmeida following complaints from an 18 year old patient with neck pain. According to the summary suspension DeAlmeida-

…massaged the young patient’s “bottom” and then turned her over and began kissing her. As the young patient was preparing to leave, the Respondent kissed her again and told her they should get together again, and as she was going to her car, the Respondent followed her and pressed her to take his cell phone number.

The patient says DeAlmeida quickly  sent her a text message asking to meet up.  She responded “Please don’t contact me.”

DeAlmeida’s lawyer Seth Bowerman says he has no comment as this time. The suspension will last indefinitely “pending further Order of the Department of Health.”

there are two sides to every story…as a FEMALE patient of his I will say he has ALWAYS been professional and because of his chiropractic work and the holistic approach he takes, I am painfree and can live my life! I find these allegations hard to believe and to suspend his license over this is HARSH..slap him on the wrist. And why is this alleged “victim” not telling her side huh??? SERIOUSLY….I believe this girl has severe “daddy” issues and needs psychiatric treatment not take it out on someone else!!! The state will lose a QUAILITY Chiropracter thanks to her!!!

Britney – not every girl who claims she was sexually assaulted has “daddy issues”. That is a juvenile and uneducated generalization to make when – YES, you may have received great care from this doctor and responded well to his bedside manner and outlook on patient care, but this young woman did not and clearly felt violated. The RI Department of Health is lax enough as it is – they do not suspend licenses without just cause and quite frankly, they would be doing themselves an injustice by not setting a precedent by “slapping him on the wrist” and letting go what could go far deeper than what they are releasing to the media. You don’t know everything – and whatever this physician may tell you regarding his side of the story is just that….HIS side of the story. An 18 year old girl does not need to come forward publicly to prove that she was sexually assaulted. She did her part by reporting it, now it is up to the state to decide whether this pig can practice without them having to worry about who’s pants he’s trying to get into next….give me a break.

Thats right Rachel YOU don’t know everything! As his sister I know why this 18 year old girl made up this story and it was on behalf of his ex-girlfriend who wanted to get back at him, there are always two sides to every story, correct but we all know the saying of a woman scorned, and when thay happens the possibilities are endless. SO maybe you should think twice before slandering someone who you’re not even a patients of his. This has affected our family in more ways than you can imagine and it’s all thanks to people like you.

An 18 year old is an adult. I like how the media is trying to make it sound like she is some young child victim.. truth is this doctor is fairly young himself. The whole story sounds weird. He rubbed her bottom.. flipped her over.. began kissing her… some time lapses.. she gets ready to leave.. he kisses her once again.. walks her out to her car.. says they should get together sometime. gives her his phone number.. I know there are two sides to this story and I’m not picking one, but you have to admit.. story sounds kind of weird! He had one other complaint that was annonymous.. could have been annonymous for many reasons.. people want to spare themselves the humiliation, or could be a jealous ex.. you never know peoples intentions. let the courts decide.. instead of calling potential victims a liar, or an innocent man a pig.

ok no need to be so harsh but I can see your points..just trying to also make my point that from knowing this guy…I think he was just trying to get this girl to date him and hang out..not rape her…just my perspective k!

Granted he should’ve never acted in such manner at his practice and jeapordize his career. I don’t think he would’ve kissed her or massaged her bottom if it wasn’t initiated. Being young and somewhat attractive I’m sure flirting from both parties, was part of his actions. Let’s not all put the fault on him. Perhaps she is just being a “Drama Queen”. I’m sure if she was at a club and a guy came up to her and kissed her she wouldn’t be calling the authorities. Because of his status she might want a quick buck…

Let me remind you once again -Doctors take a professional oath- This man obviously has broken that oath and should not be allowed to call himself a Doctor. What kind of a status do you think this man has?-There had been another complaint against him. Hope your not a doctor Sam-your attitude is a little scary-
